Birth Control Dates

About this site

Who maintains this site

Ben Basha, the developer of the Lady: Birth Control Reminder app, maintains Birth Control Dates and is not a clinician.

What the tools are for

The tools give routine dates for a birth control method you already use, from the product's label or, for a pill that isn't listed, from your pack's format. They don't give medical advice, they don't work out when to start a new method, and they don't judge your situation. For anything outside the routine schedule, see where to get help.

How schedules are sourced and checked

  • Every product schedule comes from the product's own label: the FDA-approved labeling on DailyMed for US products, and the Summary of Product Characteristics (SmPC) on the EMC for UK products, plus the UK patient leaflet for a ring note. For the US Depo interval, the site also cites the CDC's U.S. Selected Practice Recommendations for Contraceptive Use.
  • Every product's schedule rule is recorded in an evidence ledger, with the exact quote, the document version and the dates it was retrieved and checked; the pack format mode's counting rules are in our written date rules. The Sources page lists them.
  • The AI reviews: no page is published unless AI models from separate families (Anthropic, and OpenAI or Google) have each passed every claim on it against the sources.
  • The test cases: most are derived from the labels, and those for the pack-format mode from our written counting rules, all separately from the tool's code; the tool must match them on every date.
  • Each product's schedule has a review-by date. After that date, the tool stops showing that schedule until it has been re-checked.
  • If we find an error, we can switch off a product's schedule without rebuilding the site; the tools pick up the change within about 5 minutes.

How this site was written

The text and code were drafted with AI assistance, and the review rule above applies to every claim on every page.

Change history

Corrections to a schedule will be listed here, with the date.

Corrections

If something looks wrong, email support@birthcontroldates.com. Please don't send health details. Tell us the page address and what looks wrong, and leave out your own dates. We fix confirmed errors and list them in the change history, without your details.

The schedules for the listed products come from each product's official label; the pill pack tool's format mode counts from the pack size you enter. We checked them ourselves, not a clinician: no page is published unless independent AI models from separate families have each passed every rule and claim on it, and independently worked test cases check each product's schedule rule.
